Stepstone: Team building is more than just fun

An activity that challenges you to find opportunities in a rapidly changing environment. First of all: what is the use of good team building?

Yves: “We believe that every individual, every team or department and even entire companies can become a better version of themselves. Absolutely necessary to see your professional life as more than just work. We do this by combining business skills with fun. Our baseline is ‘ To unlock higher levels of teamwork while also having fun ‘. With team building we set something in motion and convey a message. The key? That one is in repetition. You don’t get a six-pack by going to the gym once.”

How does Moodmaker approach delivering such a message?

Yves: “You can tell people something, you can show them, but it only really comes to life when you can let them experience it! That is exactly why our team building activities are such a powerful tool! At Moodmaker we have three formulas for that.”

“At our Idea Shakers we look for a balance between collaboration and competition. Other terms are ‘business games’, ‘serious games’ or ‘game based learning’. We give a team a complex task or challenge and measure afterwards how the group solved the activity. Before Mars is such a training for managers who have to create order in chaos. The assignment requires them to negotiate and devise strategies.”

What gives you the most satisfaction at Moodmaker?

Yves: “During a teambuilding, many people become a better version of themselves. And that way they grow as a group! Of course I want the teams to have a nice day. But if you can combine the fun with aspects such as cooperation, communication, competition … Then you take your teambuilding to a higher, more relevant level. Then you make a ‘connection’.”
