AstraZeneca helped 250 employees experience what truly matters with Detour
AstraZeneca came to Moodmaker with a question about AI, but during the conversation it became clear that the real challenge was broader. How do you help 250 employees focus on what really matters in a world full of opportunities, information, and distractions? With team building Detour, they made this challenge tangible in an energetic and interactive way.

Client: AstraZeneca
Activity: Detour
Number of participants: 250
Location: La Grande Abbaye de La Ramée
Theme: change, collaboration, agility
AstraZeneca contacted Moodmaker with an initial question around artificial intelligence. AI was on the agenda, but during the conversation it quickly became clear that the real challenge went beyond technology.
The core question was: how do you ensure that people stay focused on what truly matters in an increasingly complex environment?
That is why we proposed Detour. Not as a training on productivity or prioritisation, but as an energetic team building experience in which participants discover how difficult it can be to make the right choices. Teams are confronted with new tasks, additional opportunities, and unexpected distractions. What initially looks like a clear route quickly turns into an environment where making choices matters more than trying to do everything.
The location, La Grande Abbaye de La Ramée, added extra character to the event. A calm and spacious venue, ideal for taking participants out of their usual work context.
During Detour, teams worked under time pressure on a series of consecutive challenges. They had to decide what deserved priority, which opportunities truly added value, and how to best allocate their time and energy. This is where the central theme became visible: it is not those who are the busiest who make the most progress, but those who make the right choices.
For AstraZeneca, Detour became a high-energy team building experience with a strong sense of relevance. Participants could laugh and fully engage, while at the same time experiencing how important focus, communication, and collaboration are to achieve results in an environment full of opportunities and distractions.
What stayed with them
Getting things done is not about doing more. It is about choosing what truly matters. Teams discovered how easily you can be distracted by new opportunities and how important it is to set priorities together. The experience made it clear that progress often depends less on working harder, and more on deciding smarter where to direct attention.
